How do I get a dog? |

|
We do our best to be certain that every puppy we place in a home is placed because the puppy and the family are a good match on many levels. We look at experience with giant breed dogs, training philosophy, schedules, children (ages), other pets in the home, etc. None of these is an absolute yeah or nay that the match is a good one for family and puppy. Commitment, communication, consistency, and honesty are some of the traits we are looking for in the best family. When you contact us we do our best to get back to you with 48 hours of your initial request for information. We communicate mostly through email unless you would prefer telephone conversations. We encourage everyone to come to our home to meet our gang of 6 mastiffs who share our home with us. They sleep in our bedroom (in the bed when hubby isn't home!) and share every moment with us from lounging around in front of the fireplace in the winter to working in the garden during the spring and summer. Wherever we are - they are. We ask that you contact us via email or via phone (775-217-0432) to inquire about our dogs. We will give you all the information we have and send you a copy of our current contract to review. We don't ask anything of you at that time, simply that you read and understand the document. In it you will find our puppies are $1600, a spay/neuter clause, we require the puppy/dog live inside of the home like another member of the family, that we don't ship the puppy and that the puppy/dog comes back to us for any reason it doesn't work out among other things. You will find in the contract what we guarantee as a breeder as well. At this point, if you are still interested in pursuing our waiting list we ask that you send an email stating "I/we agree to the terms of the contract" and tell us all about you and your family. Please let us know of anything you think is relevant to your providing a good home for one of our puppies from --- e.g., your schedule, number of children and their ages, other pets, training philosophy, etc. We don't ask for any deposit or the contract back at this point, simply that you have read and understand the terms. We do this so that everyone on our waiting list is on the same page. At this point, if we feel you are a good match for one of our puppies we will place you on our waiting list and let you know. We will ask for home/cell phone numbers so that we can contact you should a puppy become available. There is nothing worse than not getting a puppy from an upcoming litter because we could not reach you. We move rapidly down our waiting list to give everyone as much time as possible to plan for their new addition. We are in contact with our list several times per year. This allows us to just check in with everyone to say hi and to be sure there is still interest in a puppy. We use this opportunity to update our waiting list, tell you where you are currently on the list and of course, to let you know where we are in the breeding process. When the females come into heat our communication frequency increases so we can let everyone know that the time is coming. Again, we will update you where you are on the list so you have a pretty good idea about the upcoming litter. We will alert you when we can confirm the pregnancy, around 30 - 45 days, and as she gets closing to giving birth. We don't like surprises and we like to give the new families getting a puppy as much time to plan for travel and to prepare the home for the new puppy. If at anytime between our communications to you, you want to write or call, please do. We enjoy hearing from everyone on our list. |
